Cells
As a cell church, we meet during the week in cells (small groups). There are currently 2 cells operating.
If you are interested in joining either group please email: harvestnac@gmail.com
At Harvest Church we aim to:
Help each other in our journey to become more Christlike.
Act to express God's loving heart to all.
Radically apply God's word to our lives.
Value community by sharing our lives together.
Embrace diversity in our people and our worship.
Safeguard the integrity of creation.
Transform unjust structures of society.
Harvest Church began its life in the late 1990s as part of the Fresh Expressions movement within the Church of England. Operating under a Bishop's Mission Order we are unique within the Canterbury diocese in that we have no clergy, own no building; have no parish or PCC, and no regular ritually based services. We felt God's call for us was to focus on the relational aspect of the Christian life and to create a simpler way of 'doing and being' church.
Over the years we have evolved, as we adapted to new circumstances, going from being a minister centred community to one which is led by a Team headed up by the two Church Wardens. Many of our members take an active part in our Sunday Gatherings as the Holy Spirit leads us to identify and encourage their giftings. We believe we have found a way of being a small church without the expense of the parish system. Our small groups, known as cells, lie at the heart of our lives and meet weekly, in homes. They focus on how we can put our mission statement into action: to love God, to love each other and to love the lost.
So, they are more than a simple bible study - they involve worship, encouragement, support, teaching, prayer, and, thinking beyond the group to witness and mission. As a small community it is also important for us to take an active part in working with churches of all denominations in our area. We meet and pray with other local ministers and clergy, get involved in joint festival occasions, volunteer with Food Link and support local initiatives.
Why not come along? You can be sure of a warm welcome!
